I figured it was time to update my journal, what a great place to start a rant. First lets talk about...

FLASHESES

In dA's search bar, type in 'flash'. Ok lets see what's here: We have some naruto shit. Fair enough. Lets watch it. The description says it's his first time using Flash. Why's it in the popular section? Are there that many naruto/animefags on dA? What else do we have in the popular section...Pictures of the hero Flash. Again, fair enough. I also can see a white board. Then there's all those 2 framed anime crapations where you have a face of some green-haired chick, with her eyes blinking. Much praise is given to these 'animations'.

COMMENTS/EMOTICONS

Lets have a look at some of the comments on the front page submitions. There's a picture of a massive round bird, with birds inside its mouth. Looks pretty cool, I'd buy it if it were a shirt. Scroll down to the comments...wtf? Every comment ends in an emoticon. Or rather, text emoticons. "Say what?" Look, say I'm happy: Most people think it looks gay. They and I prefer the text version. Lets reverse it: (: That's better.

Now, animefags seem to use iterations of these text emoticons to the extreme. Say you draw a cute picture of...I dunno...say a kid dressed in a bumble bee suit, holding a lollipop. Here's what you would see:
-OMG! SOOOO cute QAQ
-TaHT is aewsome. its cuuute ;A;
-AWWWWW ^A^
-I LIKE HONEY >.<
etc
I understand these animefags want to express their emotions, but seriously, no one gives a shit about the constipated/crying/bemused/shocked text emotions.

Then we have those pictures with Japanese writing next to it. Now hold up folks, wtf is the point of having Japanese in the picture without even translating it? I do Jap at college and although I don't know everysinglegoddamword in their language, I can pronounce and write the characters. It's funny, how people can think they can write Japanese, when infact it's unreadable. Animefags, you're not Japanese.

Yes, I have been a culprit of making short animation loops and using text emoticons but no, I'm not jealous of 9 year old animefags getting more attention, I'm just frustrated that everyone is following the animé crowd. Jesus, not so many years ago we blew their country to hell in a clusterfuck which we called WWII, now of which we're begging to get the latest manga and animés. A fad? Probably.
